Business concept

As one of the largest and most established franchise businesses in the world, Kumon has nearly 250,000 students enrolled at more than 1,500 individually owned and operated Math & Reading Centers in U.S. and Canada alone.

Training and Support

Once a prospective Franchise is approved to enter Kumon’s initial training program, he or she must successfully complete the seven days of training that takes place over a six-to-eight-week period. This covers not only the Kumon curriculum and lesson plan, but also business and center management strategies for center operations.

Once the Center location has been approved and all training requirements met, a Franchise Agreement can be offered. Kumon staff will then work with you to prepare your Center for opening.

Through Kumon Branch Offices, the staff takes an active role in supporting Franchisees in both the administering of programs and Center growth and development. Student materials are continually reviewed, updated and supplied to the Kumon Centers. Both internal communications and customer communications are produced and disseminated regularly. Continuing training, meetings and seminars are widely attended by Kumon Instructors.

In addition, Kumon North America is now embarking on the most aggressive marketing and Franchisee support program in its history.

The Franchisee

If you enjoy working with children and have some prior business experience, that's a very good start. Although a 4-year college degree is mandatory, a background in teaching is helpful, but not essential. The single most important factor is your interest in and commitment to helping children in your community.

About us

Nothing inspires children like the skills and confidence to succeed on their own. Kumon Math and Reading unlocks the child’s potential using a proven method that nurtures achievement. Kumon helps children master those fundamental skills so important to their overall academic performance.

History

Kumon was started 50 years ago in Japan by Toru Kumon, a teacher and parent who wanted to help his son do better in school. The unique instructional method he created was so successful that his son was able to do calculus by the time he was in the sixth grade.

Market

The Kumon Method was developed to unlock the potential in every child. That's the mission that Kumon is accomplishing every day at more than 1,500 Kumon Centers in North America alone.

With centers in 44 countries, Kumon has helped more students succeed worldwide than any other after-school program.
