Subway: 20 new franchise outlets in Germany

The Subway sandwich chain opened up 20 new restaurants in Germany during the first two months of 2008. The company has announced that the network is expanding according to plan: its target is to have 750 Subway restaurants by the end of the year; there are currently 565 outlets located around the country.

Last year, the franchise chain opened up 150 new restaurants in Germany achieving a 34 percent increase in turnover. Across the world, Subway has around 28,800 restaurants. Furthermore, Subway’s German sales increased on average by 30 percent in February compared to the month before. One of the reasons for this, Subway says, is the public’s response to its current special offers. Besides this, the brand is also becoming more well known around the country. Since April 2007, Subway has been showing a series of advertisements on television.
