Schlotzsky's to move into Egypt

According to a report published on the website, qsrmagazine.com, the Schlotzsky's franchise has concluded an agreement with Food & Entertainment, a Middle Eastern developer representing 11 international brands, which should see 40 stores being opened up in Egypt; the first is due to open its doors to the public during the first six months of next year.

In an interview, Kamal Abu Sara, representative of Food & Entertainment, commented, "I am excited to bring this thriving restaurant to a new market and introduce a fun new concept to Egypt. Schlotzsky's wide range of options and flavors will appeal to consumers in Egypt, and the restaurant's value, customization, and health conscious options will make Schlotzsky's a huge success."

Schlotzsky's is owned by FOCUS Brands. Besides Schlotzsky's, FOCUS Brands owns Carvel, Cinnabon, Moe's Southwest Grill and Seattle's Best Coffee and franchises and operates an international network that covers over 30 countries. The article also reveals that Schlotzsky's is planning to open between seven and nine further international restaurants locations in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey by the end of this year. (kbp)
