Paketeria to grant franchise licences throughout Germany

The Berlin-based parcel shop chain, Paketeria, is looking to expand its system throughout Germany by using franchising. A licence was granted for Braunschweig in January and further franchise partners should be following soon. According to the company, which was founded in 2003, its turnover increased considerably last year.

Paketeria shops, which work together with the GLS logistics business, deal with up to 700 packages a day. "The professional parcel concept of the Paketeria shops combined with GLS logistics means that Paketeria has been able to become a significant competitor on the market," explained Andy Rösch, managing director at Paketeria. "We are planning to have set up 1,000 Paketeria shops throughout Germany by the time the German Post Office’s monopoly for letters ends at the end of 2007," Mr Rösch continued.

The shop business concept includes services such as accepting parcels to be sent by PIN AG, a copy shop, an Ebay agency, a photo service and a refill service for printer cartridges.

PAKETERIA is also planning to expand its system abroad and is looking for suitable master franchise partners both within Europe and the USA.
