McDonald's looking to step up its expansion in East Europe

According to a report on the Internet portal,, McDonald's is looking to continue to make full use of the growth opportunities available in the East European countries. In the article, quotes its source as being an interview held by Reuters with Ralph Alvarez, McDonald's President & Chief Operating Officer. In this interview, he said that the restaurant franchise is intending, for example, to increase the number of restaurants in Poland by fifty percent from the current 214 outlets over the next three to five years. “In central and eastern Europe the opportunity for growth is tremendous,” Alvarez said. “Between Ukraine, Poland and Romania, with more than 100 million people and thriving economies, all we have is 350 restaurants.” (kbp)
