International franchising: 800 applications for the first McDonald's in Kosovo

Approximately 800 firms have applied to be McDonald's franchisee for the first restaurant it is intending to set up in Pristina. According to a report published by OÖNachrichten, those living in the capital of Kosovo are hoping that the new McDonald's restaurant will encourage other people from abroad to invest in the country. Kosovo declared its independence in the middle of February 2008 but very few countries have officially recognized this move. The article reveals that, following the opening of this new restaurant, Albania will be the only country in the Balkans where McDonald's is not yet active.
