Franchise Expo Paris 2010 exceeds all expectations:

The organizers of the Franchise Expo Paris have announced that almost 31,000 people travelled to the Porte de Versailles exhibition centre to visit this year’s event which was held from 14 to 17 March. Furthermore, the show – now in its 29th year – met with great success, surpassing all expectations. This year, Reed Expositions and the French Franchise Federation decided to alter the show’s dates in an attempt to boost attendances and this proved to be the right decision.

Yann Ducarouge, Managing Director of Lollipops, commented, “The show was extremely dynamic throughout its 4-day duration, with high visitor numbers noted on Sunday and Monday. We at Lollipops take part in other franchise exhibitions in Italy and Spain, but they pale in comparison to the Paris show in terms of vitality – 450 exhibitors, high attendance, international visitors. We were delighted to meet visitors from Asia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Italy and Germany.”

The 2010 edition of Franchise Expo Paris attracted 30,981 visitors over four days – an increase of 15.14% over 2009 figures. The rise in visitor numbers goes hand in hand with the noteworthy increase in start-ups witnessed in 2009. Last year 580,193 new businesses saw the light of day, versus 331,439 in 2008; this pace has shown no sign of slowing during the first quarter of 2010.

The show attracted mostly visitors who were either salaried employees with a new start-up vision or independent traders. While the number of attendees from the Paris region broke all previous records (+65% compared to 2009), there was also an excellent turnout from the French regions (+16% compared to 2009). Franchise Expo Paris also reasserted its position as a leading international event, with 13.5% of visitors from outside France. This figure, identical to that of last year, represents a remarkable achievement given the current economic situation and the general drop in visitor numbers observed at trade shows during the second half of 2009.
