Franchise award winners for 2006: McDonald's and Engel & Völkers
The German franchise branch used the occasion of the 21st German Franchise Day, (held during the START Exhibition in Düsseldorf) to present awards to outstanding companies within the branch. The decision to name McDonald's “Franchisor of the Year 2006” was a unanimous one.
The main reasons for this choice was – besides McDonald's strong performance on the market – its innovative concepts such as the McCafé or the introduction of smaller restaurants, the so-called satellites. The "impulse" franchisor prize was awarded by a specialist jury chaired by Michael Jansen, editor of the "impulse" magazine.
The Franchise Founder of the Year 2006 award was also presented during the event. This prize was presented to Stefan Renner from Rostock who opened up his own real estate business in 2005 by joining the Engel & Völkers AG network. He also received prize money amounting to 5,000 euros. Bernd Harenkamp from Im-Press Promotions was given second place and Martin Kamrath from Mail Boxes Etc. third place. Their award money amounted to 2,500 euros and 1,000 euros respectively. Fourth and fifth place were awarded to the mobilcom partner, Andy Lindert, and Martin Hoffmann, who set up his own carpentry business with the TopaTeam franchise system. All people who had set up a franchise business in Germany in 2005 were able to apply.
