Costa Coffee opens its 1,000th store
Costa Coffee has announced that it has, together with OJSC Rosinter Restaurants Holding, opened Costa’s 1,000th store which is located in Moscow’s Pushkin Square. The opening of this store also heralds the arrival of Costa Coffee in Russia.
According to the company, the new joint venture, which was concluded between the two companies last December, is planning to open up 200 Costa stores in Russia over the next 5 years, whereby they will be concentrating on Moscow and St Petersburg to begin with. 11 coffee shops that are currently being operated by Rosinter under its brand Moka Loka are also to be converted to the Costa brand.
Costa is, it says, the UK’s largest and fastest growing coffee shop chain. It is planning to open up its 700th milestone UK store next month. It is part of the Whitbread family of brands and in 2007 Costa won the award for “Best International Franchise Operator”. The Costa chain currently operates over 300 stores overseas in 22 countries in Europe, the Middle East, China and India.
