Church's Chicken expands into India
According to a report published on the Internet portal, chainleader.com, the quick-service restaurant chain Church's Chicken has opened up an outlet in Hyderabad, India. The Church's Chicken brand is known as Texas Chicken in both Europe and Asia.
In an interview with Chain Leader, CEO Harsha Agadi explained why the brand is right for the Indian market, “India has 1.1 billion people. And Indians traditionally consume the largest quantity of fried food and fried chicken is a natural food item for Indians. Therefore our product, our spice level, our pricing strategy is made for India.”
Atlanta-based Church's Chicken currently has 1,650 units in 20 countries. According to Harsha Agadi, the company is planning to set up around 300 stores in India over the next ten years. Furthermore, he believes that the concept will be launched on the Chinese market by 2010. (kbp)
