Carlson Hotels Worldwide signs 33 new properties
Carlson Hotels Worldwide has announced that it has signed franchise or management agreements for 33 new properties in the third quarter of 2008. According to the information provided, the new hotels and resorts cover 13 countries. Furthermore, the company also announced 12 new hotel openings in August and September in countries such as Norway, Russia, Germany, Brazil and the USA.
Carlson’s global network currently comprises 995 hotels with more than 148,000 rooms in 74 countries. Carlson owns a number of well-known hotel brands including Radisson and Park Plaza Hotels & Resorts.
Jay Witzel, president and CEO of Carlson Hotels Worldwide, commented, “Despite challenges in the current global economy, Carlson Hotels and our development partners have opened nearly 60 hotels so far in 2008 and signed more than 120 development agreements for future properties. This commitment to continuing worldwide growth will be celebrated later this year as we look forward to opening our landmark 1,000th hotel in December.” (kbp)
