Accor: more rooms thanks to franchising
Last year, the turnover of the Accor hotel group rose by 6.6 percent. The company has now announced that its network increased by approximately 22,000 rooms in 2006.
Plans are for a further 200,000 rooms to be offered by the year 2010. Around 77,000 new rooms will be opening up soon and, the company has said, numerous new franchise agreements have already been signed.
With its approx. 160,000 employees in almost 100 countries, Accor is one of the world’s largest businesses in the sector providing travel and services to corporate clients and public institutions. The group runs more than 4,000 hotels in 92 countries with approximately 20 percent of these being owned by franchisees.
