A successful start to the year for Famous Famiglia

The Famous Famiglia franchise is bucking the economic downturn and has enjoyed a number of successes since the beginning of the year. Several new outlets have been opened including one in Harlem in New York City – the 30th Famous Famiglia location in NY. Furthermore it is continuing its partnership with the New York Yankees as the “Official Pizza of the New York Yankees” with a long term agreement to operate six locations throughout the new stadium beginning this season.

The franchise is also expanding in specific markets: it has, for example, continued its growth in the university market with its latest opening at the University of Maryland at Baltimore County. Moreover, it has increased its presence in the cinema segment with new openings across an additional seventeen National Amusements cinemas throughout five additional states. The company has announced that more openings are expected throughout the year.

In addition, the franchise has been presented with a number of awards this year including ‘Pizza Today – Top 100 Pizza Companies in the U.S.’, ‘National Minority Franchising Initiative - Top 25 Franchises in America’, ‘Franchising World Magazine - Top 100 Business Opportunities of 2009’, ‘Restaurant Chain’s Top 20 - List of Fastest Growing Concepts in the U.S.’ (ranked by total percentage of growth), ‘Entrepreneur Magazine – 2009’s Top 500 Franchises List’ and, last but not least, ‘Franchise Times Magazine - Up & Comers - Top 100 Companies on the Verge’.

Famous Famiglia is a New York City based pizza company founded in 1986 by the Kolaj family. Today, the company has successfully expanded its concepts across the world, targeting captive markets such as airports, motorways, universities, shopping centers, casinos, stadiums and theme parks. (kbp)
