LawnScience is a service franchising company that helps customers to improve their lawns and maintain them on a regular basis by providing them with a full range of lawn treatments, everything you would expect for a top class golf club.

History
Terence Nicholson had studied the US lawncare industry which started in the 1960’s and now has an annual turnover in excess of $10 billion. He decided that the UK market had a similar potential.

LawnScience gets their customers via four main routes, they are a key factor in making their business profitable.

  1. Targeted leaflet distribution.
  2. Targeted Direct Mail.
  3. Targeted email marketing.
  4. Customer referral.

LawnScience takes a proactive and scientific approach to lawncare which is impressive and satisfying to customers, and they never recommend a treatment which is not appropriate to a lawn.

Market
Today only an estimated 400,000 lawns in the UK are treated by lawn care professionals. That’s just 2.4% market penetration of an estimated 17,000,000 lawns.

Having run his own franchise area for several years, Nicholson can confirm that the UK market is strong and growing, and offers an excellent opportunity for individuals who are willing to work.

Training and Support
LawnScience provides a structured personal training plan that consists of both “classroom” and “on the job” training. They cover the subjects required at a comfortable pace and if you don’t get it LawnScience does it again and again until you do. They want you to be knowledgeable and confident when you start your business.

As well as regular reviews, LawnScience provides top-up training throughout the year. They are happy to work with you both in acquiring new customers and in servicing them, and if you have specific issues on lawns, people from the company will visit them with you to provide their years of experience where you need it, “with you on the lawn in front of the customer”.

In addition, you get 24 hour 7 days a week access to Terence Nicholson, the Managing Director of LawnScience (including mobile and home numbers). So if your software develops a hitch at 10.30 when you are preparing tomorrow’s treatment plan you will not be alone.

Franchise partner profile

LawnScience is looking for similar minded individuals to work with to develop the Lawnscience brand throughout the UK and Europe. These people should have service oriented personalities and enjoy customers service and lawncare work. The new franchisee will be invited to discuss suitability with the franchise director and work some in the field in order to see if this industry is the right fit.
