Subway franchise chain launches a delivery service

The Subway sandwich chain has introduced a delivery service. According to a report on the Internet portal, foxbusiness.com, the new delivery service was first introduced in Downtown Manhattans in New York. Subway is working together with the UDS Group, a specialist for delivery management solutions.

The aim is to set up a freecall service enabling customers from all across the USA to order sandwiches by phone. By doing so, it is looking to conquer a share of the market which is currently in the hands of pizza and Asian restaurants. The report did not mention whether this service was to be extended onto other markets beyond the USA. Subway currently has around 28,500 restaurants in 86 countries.
