Stagecoach Theatres enjoys a successful year

Stagecoach, a franchise network of theatre schools, has published a summary of its results and achievements for the year ending 31st May 2007: here it is revealed than it achieved profit before tax amounting to £310,000 thus managing to turn around its results from 2006 when it had suffered a loss of £213,000. Furthermore, the Group’s core business, namely its network of schools in the UK, grew particularly strongly with net profit up by 120% to £1.1m (2006: £0.5m). At the end of the year, the Group’s worldwide network consisted of 318 franchisees, 30 more than the year before.

Stagecoach Theatre Arts was founded in the UK in 1988 by Stephanie Manuel and David Sprigg and operates a network of part-time performing arts schools for young people with over 33,000 students. The first franchisees joined the system in 1994 and since then it has launched its business concept in various countries around the world including Ireland, Malta, the USA, Germany and Australia.

Stagecoach Theatre Arts uses performing arts to teach children skills for life such as confidence and communication. Each "Stagecoach school" is run by a franchisee, the school principal, with the courses running for 3 hours with every student being taught one hour of dance, one hour of drama and one hour of singing.
