Riverford Organic Vegetables looking to expand
Riverford Organic Vegetables, a franchise system offering veg box schemes, announced recently that it was looking for new franchisees to further expand its network across the UK.
Despite the current credit crunch, the network is doing well, the company says, with a 10 percent growth in turnover compared to September 2007. According to the information provided, the organic box scheme delivers to 47,000 households a week.
Ian Bradley, commercial director, said, “We currently have 101 franchisees who deliver our boxes to customers in their local areas and help us to keep the business to a small responsive scale – and we’re on the lookout for more. With the launch of our new farm in Cheshire, we have territories available in Central Manchester, Liverpool, Blackburn, Oldham and other areas in the North West as well as plenty of opportunities throughout the UK.”
Founded in 1986, Riverford Organic Vegetables is an independent producer of organic vegetables in the UK. The company has won several Soil Association awards including Organic Business Person of the Year for its founder Guy Watson. (kbp)
