Merry Maids celebrates 30 years of business

Founded in Omaha, Neb., in 1979, Merry Maids has announced its 30th anniversary in the business. With more than 8,000 residential cleaning professionals across the globe, the company has, it says, become the world's largest home cleaning network, servicing three continents and more than 300,000 homes each month.

Merry Maids serves more than 962 territories in the United States, with an 80/20 mix of franchise/company-owned locations. On the international front, there are approximately 1,400 franchises in countries including Canada, the United Kingdom, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, South Korea and Hong Kong.

"We've come a long way, but we still have a lot to do to keep our lead in the home cleaning sector," said Laura Hendricks, president of Merry Maids. "Although the cleaning approach remains basically the same, the tools of the trade have changed to a great degree during the past 30 years, mandating more eco-friendly solutions to recurring challenges. Moreover, customer expectations are higher than they've ever been given current family demographics, job demands and the economy."

Merry Maids house cleaning services are available weekly, every other week, monthly or on a one-time basis. The company customizes cleaning services for a variety of demands and budgets. The price to clean a home is based on many factors, including the size of the residence and the anticipated frequency of visits.

According to Merry Maids officials, the company plans a host of internal and external communications activities during the course of 2009 to honour the organization's history and to remind current customers and future clients why the company has such staying power.
