Kika and Palmers get a foothold in Saudi-Arabia
Syncon, a firm of consultants active in Austria, Switzerland and Germany, have helped the Austrian businesses, Palmers and Kika, to get a foothold on the Saudi-Arabian market. The company has announced that the Riyadh-based Alhokair Group shall be opening up ten Kika furniture stores in Saudi-Arabia in the future acting as the network’s franchisee.
Waltraud Martius, managing director, expressed her pleasure at this expansion, "Together with Kika, we worked out the necessary instruments for this partnership during a number of workshops. The documents containing the know-how have now been drawn up and they shall be used by the team in Saudi-Arabia to run the furniture stores there. Seminars are also being held in both Austria and Riyadh."
The Syncon consultants’ good contacts to Saudi-Arabia have also been of great use to the lingerie specialists, Palmers. This textile business is aiming to use franchising models more to enable it to expand at a greater pace abroad. Together with the consultants, a comprehensive master manual has been put together which contains the rights and obligations of the Palmers international partners. Palmers currently has more than 300 Austrian and international franchise locations. A contract has now been signed with a partner from Saudi-Arabia. Further expansion plans involve China, Russia, the Czech Republic, Poland, Ukraine, Switzerland and Great Britain. Waltraud Martius believes the advantages of franchising abroad are clear, "A franchise system is strictly organized and ensures that the company appearance is uniform throughout the world and that the quality is the same in every country. The local partners are able to inject their knowledge of the market into the partnership."
