IHG and Tiger Developments sign deal to open InterContinental Hotel in Edinburgh
InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has announced the signing of a new deal that will bring InterContinental to Scotland for the first time and form part of Tiger Developments' proposal to regenerate the Haymarket area, creating offices, restaurants and shops.
Kirk Kinsell, president, Europe, Middle East and Africa, IHG, said: "This landmark deal will give us our first InterContinental hotel in Scotland. Over the next few years, Haymarket is going to become an increasingly popular destination. The InterContinental hotel will be ideally placed to meet the needs of business and leisure travellers seeking world class services and facilities."
According to the information provided, the new hotel will be licensed as an InterContinental hotel to Tiger Developments under a 20-year franchise agreement and will be managed on their behalf by BDL, who currently own or manage ten IHG hotels.
InterContinental Hotels Group is, it says, the world's largest hotel group by number of rooms. IHG owns, manages, leases or franchises, through various subsidiaries, over 4,150 hotels and almost 620,000 guest rooms in nearly 100 countries and territories around the world. (kbp)
