Fressnapf presents a new franchise concept

The pet food store, Fressnapf, has announced recently that it has launched a new kind of sales and franchising concept with its so-called megastore, its ‘Mega Zoo’. A pilot store opened its doors to the public a few weeks ago in Berlin. It is being run by the franchisees, Sabine and Thomas Bangel, who are hoping to play a decisive role in developing the new ‘Mega Zoo’ concept.

The aim of these new stores is to give the Fressnapf customers a real shopping experience: the shops are to be about 2,500m² in size and have open areas with live pets, cages and terrariums. The new concept is particularly targeted at families with children. The shops will also be keeping exotic animals for their customers to look at although these will not be for sale.

The company is planning to have set up a further one or two of these megastores this year. Its medium to long-term plans are to have at least 40 across Germany as well as between 60 to 80 megastore locations in Europe.
