British Franchise Association announces its Franchisee of the Year short list
The British Franchise Association (bfa) recently revealed the short-list for the 2011 bfa HSBC Franchisee of the Year Awards. These national awards, which are supported by Express Newspapers, serve, the bfa explains, to highlight excellence within the sector and the commitment of those franchisees who ‘set the standard’ for best practice in the industry.
According to the information provided, the regional semi-finalists are as follows:
For London and the South East: Jonathan and Luke Mason, Belvoir Lettings (Hitchin), Manjit Singh, Driver Hire (Enfield), Asad Hamir, O2 (London W1), Simon Harrop, Riverford Organic Vegetables (London SW19), and Tina Kemp, WPA (Droxford, Hampshire).
For the South West and South Wales: Robin Delve, Dairy Crest (Newton Abbott), Lorraine Thompson, Driver Hire (Oxford), James Tucker, O2 (Bridgwater), Holly and Chris Galley, Riverford Organic Vegetables (Shaftesbury), and Philip Arnold, WPA (Taunton).
For the Midlands and North Wales: Sarah Matthews, Driver Hire (Lincoln), Steven Prime, Esquires Coffee Houses (Coventry), Afia Sirkhot, McDonald's Restaurants (Birmingham and Dudley), Peter Sewell, TaxAssist Accountants (Llandudno, Prestatyn and Wrexham) and Carol and David Brinkworth, Wiltshire Farm Foods (Grantham).
For the North: Paul Daley-Smith, Autosmart (Scarborough), Catharine and Mike Chalton, Home Instead Senior Care (Moreton, Wirral), Anne Wainwright, McDonald's Restaurants (Leeds and Wakefield), Malcolm Lant, Signs Express (Gateshead) andJo Horgan, United Carpets (Doncaster).
The two finalists for the Scotland and Northern Ireland category have already been named as Andy Campbell, Belvoir Lettings (Moray) and Ian Cain, NBC Bird & Pest Solutions (Edinburgh).
The regional finalists will be invited for an interview with the judging panel in London and the winners will then be revealed at a black-tie event at the NEC in Birmingham, on Thursday 29th September. Furthermore, in addition to the winners across the five regions, this year’s awards will include an overall winner – the Gold Winner of the Awards – who will be named bfa HSBC Franchisee of the Year and will receive £5,000 from HSBC. The Silver and Bronze Winners will receive £3,000 and £2,000 respectively, courtesy of HSBC. The five regional winners will each receive £500, again provided by HSBC. (kbp)
