Apollo Blinds appoints new chief

Britain’s biggest blinds store chain, Apollo Blinds, has appointed a new general manager.

Gary Chambers will head up the company which has more than 85 franchise stores in the UK and Ireland.

Mr Chambers has been appointed from within Apollo Blinds’ parent company Hunter Douglas – which is the world’s biggest manufacturer of window blinds – with a brief to drive the business forward.

He has a distinguished career maximising the full potential of every business he has managed and his first act as new general manager is to develop a range of initiatives which will give Apollo Blinds’ franchise network more opportunities to increase sales.

“Apollo Blinds is a strong and robust franchise operation that has been trading very successfully for more than 35 years,” he said.

“For a long time our formula has enabled franchisees to run very successful and profitable businesses using the Apollo Blinds brand, but I believe there is an opportunity for them to earn even more money for themselves.

“There has never been a better time to exploit the market and we are already working with our franchisees to give them more tools and training to generate more sales. We are also bringing on new products such as shutters and awnings so that our franchisees have everything at their disposal to increase sales.

“Apollo Blinds is a very attractive proposition for anyone who wants to run their own business through franchising. By introducing simple initiatives which help our existing network make more money, it sends an even stronger message out to potential investors that Apollo Blinds is the right choice for business minded individuals who want to deliver a fantastic return on their investment.”

Commenting on the appointment, Kees Ekelmans from Hunter Douglas said he was delighted that Gary had joined Apollo Blinds.

Ekelmans, Hunter Douglas’ general manager Wholesale Europe said: “Gary is a very motivated individual and he has the full backing and support of Hunter Douglas to achieve the massive potential for growth and development that Apollo Blinds has in the UK and Ireland.”

Previous general manager Patrick Harrison left Apollo Blinds last year. (pk)
