YogaBugs is franchise system which aims to get children doing more exercise and combat obesity by encouraging them to take up yoga and so lead a healthier lifestyle. According to information provided by the company, some 40,000 children across the UK are already benefiting from the classes and this number will continue to rise. The company has developed 2 child-friendly yoga programmes: YogaBugs for children aged 2½ -7 and Yoga’d Up for children aged 8-12 years.
Helen Crowdey was YogaBugs’ first franchisee opening up her business in the London Central West territory. She says she knew she had spotted a great opportunity to be part of the YogaBugs phenomenon: “As a qualified YogaBugs and Yoga’d Up teacher, I had seen first hand how the classes benefit children. Although I taught numerous classes, as a single mum I needed to teach more but was unable to do so in the hours I had available to work. This was frustrating as I knew there was the demand for more classes as I frequently had to turn down new work. The YogaBugs franchise is a natural step for me to take in order that I can continue to work in the industry I love and earn a living. I was already referring work onto other YogaBugs teachers who didn’t have enough work but now the franchise makes this mutually beneficial.”
Franchisees joining the system are given sole rights to their own territory. Besides this, the franchise head office provides extensive support such as training & opening support, a comprehensive business manual, special software to minimize administration and maximise business development time and a page on the YogaBugs website to promote the classes in the individual territories. Three franchises have already been awarded and the company is aiming to recruit 50 franchisees over the next 18 months.
