Description of franchise system

NORDSEE GmbH was founded in 1896 as “Deutsche Dampffischerei-Gesellschaft NORDSEE” in Bremerhaven, North Germany. At that time the company had seven steam-powered fishing boats which would supply regional and national customers with top-quality fresh fish.

In the same year, NORDSEE opened their first shop in Bremen – the first of many shops to come. Ever since, NORDSEE has become synonymous in Germany with highly successful fish retailing. In 1965 NORDSEE opened its first fish restaurant followed by fish snack shops in the 1980s. This meant that people could enjoy fish that was both fresh, healthy, quick and convenient.

These three areas – retail, restaurants and snack sales – have been the basis of the NORDSEE success to this very day. NORDSEE offers customers high quality fresh seafood and fish dishes from sustainable fisheries around the world. Top quality products give customers, not only a great variety to choose from, but also regional and seasonal specialities for the whole family. With tasty seafood salads, warm seafood soups and dishes and freshly made seafood wraps, NORDSEE is offering customers of all ages and genders new and innovative products for weekdays and celebrations.

NORDSEE is Europe’s largest QS (Quick-Service) seafood restaurant chain with approx. 6.000 employees and a turnover of approximately €350 Million per year. The company has locally owned and franchise restaurants in over 410 prime locations in Europe and the Middle East.

The NORDSEE expansion and success story continues with three new openings in Cairo, Moscow and St. Petersburg by the end of Q1 2011. NORDSEE is actively searching for Franchise partners that can develop the restaurant system in different European countries.
