Wagamama opens its first Swiss franchise outlet
Wagamama restaurants serve their guests Japanese noodle, rice and soup dishes as well as freshly squeezed fruit juices. The first Wagamama business was set up in London in 1992. The franchise system opened its first restaurant in Switzerland in the city of Winterthur on 17th April 2008. The exclusive master franchisee for Switzerland is the restaurant specialist, SV Schweiz.
According to the company, a further restaurant is due to open its doors to the public in Zurich this September. As a result a total of 56 new jobs will be created. The name ‘Wagamama’ is Japanese and effectively means ‘naughty child’. There are currently more than 80 restaurants around the world, 52 of which are run by the company itself in Great Britain and Scotland. The company has already granted many international master franchise licences for countries such as Ireland, Holland, Australia, Belgium, New Zealand, Denmark, Turkey and Cyprus.
