Town & Country: record results thanks to franchising

The Town & Country franchise network sold around 560 houses during the first quarter of 2007. The turnover of this home construction company also rose during the same period by 60 percent to 74.1 million euros. Town & Country has now announced that they are expecting record results this year.

Jürgen Dawo, head of Town & Country, explained that one of the reasons for this success was the way the company’s franchise network had been set up. “As we have more than 250 partners, we are able to offer our customers the advantages of a large company but at the same time the local market presence of a smaller local business,” Mr Dawo explained.

In 2006, Town & Country sold approximately 2,200 houses. The franchisees can choose between two different business models: building homes or selling homes. They receive a wide range of support from the franchisor such as initial and further training courses which are held at the company’s own academy and via the Internet (e-campus). Furthermore, the company also carries out national marketing campaigns. The network’s medium-term aim is to build around 5,000 homes a year.

The system, which originated in Germany, is also active in other countries such as in Turkey, Spain, the Czech Republic, Switzerland and Poland. It is currently on the look-out for suitable master franchisees throughout Europe to enable it to further expand its network.
