Pauline May relocates its headquarters

Keighley-based Pauline May, which is, it says, the UK’s only firm providing clothing exclusively for the mature fashions sector, has moved its head office to a new purpose-built premises in the town. In a recent press release, the company explained that the rapid expansion of its business meant it desperately needed additional space. The new premises includes a large reception area and warehousing facilities. Visitors to the building will also be able to purchase clothing items direct through the company’s catalogue. Catering for the mature market, the new building has specialist easy access and other facilities to make life easier for its elderly customers.

The company was founded by Pauline May in 1991 and she began her business from the garage of her Keighley home – with just £1,000 savings. She had noticed how difficult it was for elderly people to get to shops and buy clothes, indeed she felt they were not being served well at all by the market. “They were the forgotten generations and I soon realized that there was a whole market place out there for purpose-designed, ready-made clothing ranges for mature men and women,” she explained

Sixteen years on, Pauline May has progressed from garage to world market. Its range of clothes are now sold to thousands of nursing and residential homes via mobile shops serviced by a growing UK-wide franchisee network, direct to the housebound, via an international catalogue business as well as through its online shop. Besides clothing, the company’s product range also includes footwear and accessories as well as outfits for people with special needs. The new building is open to personal shoppers Monday to Friday and is located on Valley Road in Worth Enterprise Park.
