Oscar Pet Foods wins Bronze Award
The Oscar Pet Foods franchise has won the Bronze Award in the British Franchise Association’s (bfa) 2008 Franchisor of the Year Awards. The prize was presented to the company by bfa President, Sir Bernard Ingham, at an Awards luncheon held at London’s Sheraton Park Lane Hotel. According to information provided by the company, the theme for this year’s Awards, which are sponsored by Express Newspapers and HSBC Bank, was ‘now and then, five years on’ with franchisors having to demonstrate the developments they have brought to their businesses in the past five years.
Oscar Pet Foods is one of the most successful pet food delivery suppliers in the UK, and has enjoyed strong growth over the last few years both in the number of customers and franchisees. Oscar's success has, the company says, been supported by a new marketing initiative and a complete re-branding of the company including new products, professional packaging and an innovative new van design.
Director General of the bfa, Brian Smart, said: “This year’s competition was extremely difficult to judge, with high quality contributions from many of the entrants. Oscar Pet Foods stood out amongst the short-listed companies and deserves recognition for their outstanding achievements. They have continually developed their business model to support their network of franchisees, ensuring they maximise growth whilst building a sustainable and profitable business.”
