Helen Doron Shanghai planning to expand across China.
Franchising is growing in importance in China with more and more companies using this business form to expand around the country. Helen Doron’s master franchisee for Shanghai, Nick Shiah, also believes that this educational franchise concept will be a success in the country, “I think Helen Doron Early English is a perfect fit for China.”
The Helen Doron franchise has been teaching children aged 3 months to 14 years across the world for more than 20 years now. In accordance with the Helen Doron concept, lessons are held in small groups within a playful, musical and nurturing environment. Nick Shiah is convinced that this totally different form of teaching will catch on in the country, “In China, language education has traditionally only been through drill and memorization. Until now children were never expected to actually enjoy leaning, so it's a real treat to see youngsters smiling and singing the songs they've learned in English after a Helen Doron lesson - and very satisfying for the parents too.”
He joined the network in 2002 as a Helen Doron Learning Centre franchisee. Having recognized the great potential for Helen Doron educational products in the country, he then became the Helen Doron master franchisor for Shanghai in 2005. Helen Doron Early English offers a total of 12 courses in English for children: 7 years of spoken English for infants and younger children as well as 3 years of speaking, reading and writing for older children.
