Geox and Jack Wolfskin dominate the ECE Retailer Awards 2008
This year’s top retailers were recently presented with the “Retailer Awards 2008” at the international ECE Retail Meeting which was held at the Borussia-Park in the German city of Mönchengladbach. The event was held for the sixth year running and ECE has succeeded in turning it into one of Europe’s largest meetings of its kind. The Retailer Awards were presented for the second time and recognize outstanding services within retailing. This year, two of the four categories were won by franchise systems.
The Italian shoe company, Geox, won the award for the “Most Innovative Concept”. The brand, which is well known for its “shoes that breathe”, is now sold in more than 10,000 stores around the world as well as in over 770 mono-label stores; over 600 of these mono-label shops are run by franchisees.
The “Best Performance” Retailer Award was presented to Jack Wolfskin which is one of the most successful franchisors in the sports retailing sector in Germany. The franchise business also has stores outside Germany in countries such as Belgium, Rumania, Finland, Great Britain, Poland, the Czech Republic, the Ukraine, Japan and China.
With 10,000 retail tenants in a total of 97 shopping centres, ECE is Europe’s shopping centre market leader. 26 further shopping malls have been planned or are in the process of being built across Europe. (kbp)
