Chiquita looking to expand through franchising
Chiquita is planning to expand its restaurant activities. According to a report published on the website, cafe-future.net, the company is looking to have set up 25 fruit bars across Europe by the end of this year. To achieve these plans, the company is on the look-out for suitable franchisees.
The well-known banana brand has been active within the restaurant business since 2005. Having established its first fruit bar in Hamburg, further locations then followed in Berlin, Düsseldorf, Heidelberg, Munich and Stuttgart. In addition, three bars are expected to open up soon in Brussels and Antwerp and a further one in the Swiss town of Winterthur – according to the report, the company is also looking at the potential of the Dutch market.
Chiquita has developed two different concepts which depend on the location and space available. The bars sell fruit juices, fruit salads, yoghurt products, milkshakes, mueslis and salads. (kbp)
