Ben & Jerry’s: 30 years of ice-cream franchising in Germany
Ben & Jerry’s, the ice-cream specialists, are currently celebrating 30 years of franchising in Germany. To mark the occasion, they are selling a limited anniversary packaging for its ’Cookie Dough’ ice-cream. Ben & Jerry’s, which belongs to the Dutch Unilever Group, has announced that this will be available in the German outlets from the end of March.
Furthermore, Ben & Jerry’s will be handing out free balls of ice-cream on its annual "Free Cone Day" on 29th April as well as collecting donations for local charities.
Ben & Jerry’s is, it says, one of the world’s largest ice-cream franchisors. The franchise was launched in a converted petrol station in Burlington in the USA in 1978. Since then the company has developed into a network of around 580 franchise-run outlets all across the world. There are currently eight stores in Germany which can be found in the cities of Berlin, Hamburg, Düsseldorf, Bochum, Cologne and Munich.
