SUBWAY opens its 30,000th location

The SUBWAY® brand recently announced that it has reached the milestone of 30,000 locations worldwide with nine stores opening on the same day. According to the information provided, the nine new Subway restaurants are located in Sahuarita, (Arizona), Bakersfield (California), Peachtree City (Georgia), Sneads Ferry (North Carolina), Gronau (Germany), Hong Kong, Durham and Windsor (Ontario) and Stockholm (Sweden).

The new stores mirror the diversity of the SUBWAY franchise system: they are a mixture of domestic, international, traditional and non-traditional locations. The new owners are both multi-unit franchisees as well as others who have just joined and are opening up their first store.

With its 30,000 locations in 87 countries, the SUBWAY restaurant chain is, it says, the world's largest submarine sandwich franchise. Based in Milford, Connecticut, the SUBWAY restaurant chain was co-founded by Fred DeLuca and Dr. Peter Buck in 1965. The SUBWAY brand has been named as the number one franchise opportunity in Entrepreneur magazine's "Annual Franchise 500" listing for 15 of the past 21 years, and was ranked as "America's Top Global Franchise" for 2008.
