Bluebird Care enjoys strong growth
Article
Bluebird Care

Bluebird Care, one of the UK’s fastest growing providers of care at home, reported recently that it has been opening, on average, a new office every three weeks. Within two years, this Hampshire-based franchise has grown from one office in Petersfield to 18 new offices in 2008/09. According to the information provided, the company currently has 34 offices trading across England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland, and has a group turnover exceeding £5m.

Despite global recession, the company is, it says, optimistic about the forthcoming financial year as it has another 15 offices under development – and a further six new franchisees have signed up for a training course. Each new office has a potential to recruit between 40 and 50 carers – an average of 800 new Bluebird Care jobs a year.

Bluebird Care’s rapid expansion can, the company says, be attributed to a variety of factors but mainly reflects public demand for professional care in people’s own homes, based on personal preference and cost-effectiveness. It also mirrors Government policy, aimed at helping older people to stay at home, and out of residential care, for long as possible.

Managing director Paul Tarsey said: “The past financial year has seen rapid but sustainable growth. Looking ahead, we are confident that we are delivering quality services that are tailored to our customers’ needs. For example, we have just started an exciting joint initiative with High Street pharmacy chain, Boots to help people to take their prescription drugs safely and effectively at home. This is a major milestone in the history of home care and has exciting possibilities for both our own company and Boots. It’s a great opportunity to improve our customer service even further." (kbp)
