A total of 5,158 euros were collected during the donation campaign organized by the German Curves franchise, a chain of fitness studios for women. According to Curves, the money is to be given to the breast cancer charity Mamazone - Frauen und Forschung gegen Brustkrebs e.V.
Information provided by the company has revealed that around 20 percent of the donations came from the Curves studio in Ettlingen. Each year, Curves invests “several million dollars on researching women’s health and fitness and donates at least the same amount to organisations that have been set up to fight breast cancer,” explained Gabi Knebel, owner of the Ettlingen Curves studio. This year, the spotlight was put on the new "Liv" pad, an aid for women to help them discover possible lumps in their breasts more quickly.
Curves is, it says, the world’s largest fitness franchise with more than 10,000 clubs in 64 countries around the world. The concept is based on a 30-minute training session that benefits the whole body from cardio-vascular exercises using hydraulic equipment to weight reduction programmes. (kbp)
