The risks of thinking that franchising is an El Dorado
In business, no magical formula can guarantee success without any effort.
Franchising reduces the number and the size of obstacles, accelerates development, allows the duplication of proven concepts, and is a way to avoid already done mistakes…but it is not an all-risk insurance.
When franchising brings together a proven know-how and a courageous dynamic entrepreneur who has the right profile and sufficient funds, then the probability of success is extremely high as compared to other forms of business creation.
Paradoxically, this success is the source of risk as it can make people think franchising is a magical formula; it might attract franchisors who would give away false promises, as well as franchisees who think success will happen without any effort.
As a matter of course, a well based franchising network leads to very high
success rates. It is useless to ask whether franchising is a good solution.
