Harry’s Homes hotel chain to expand per franchising
A hotel chain that allows its guests to select the services they require: this is the novel concept currently being offered by the "Harry’s Home" hotel business and the owner, Harald Ultsch from Innsbruck, is intending to expand the concept throughout Europe. According to a report published in the Austrian ‘Wirtschaftsblatt’, guests choose whether they just wish to stay overnight at the hotels or whether they wish to use other services such as the room cleaning service, the restaurant, the wellness area etc. The main target groups are business people as well as families.
According to Ultsch, the pilot project in Graz is proving to be a great success. Plans are now for six to seven new Harry’s Homes to be set up by 2012: a new hotel began business in Linz on 01 July, a “Harry's Home” is due to open its doors to the public in Dornbirn towards the end of the summer, a location has already be found for Vienna and a second Vienna location is planned for 2012, and negotiations are currently being held for two to three locations in Salzburg.
The chain is planning to expand throughout the country per franchising from 2010 onwards and the concept is then to be launched abroad from 2012. According to Ultsch, he believes 20 company-run “Harry's Homes” and 40 franchise-owned hotels can be set up over the following five years in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Italy, Switzerland and Germany.
