Do you know the World Franchise Council?
Created after several meetings started in Toronto in 1988, the World Franchise Council is a world organism for franchise that has been created in Lisbon in June 1984.
Its aim: To encourage the international harmony and collaboration in order to reinforce and promote franchising.
Its objectives:
- To offer to all national associations of
franchising “correctly constituted” a speaking space where its opinions and
sovereignty will be respected.
- To be the spokesperson of national
associations to international organisms
- To encourage the creation of
national franchising association “correctly constituted”
Membership factors: the association or federation of franchising has
to correspond to three factors:
1- Its members have to be constituted in
majority of two franchises network or to their representatives.
2- Its
board of directors has to be composed in majority of two franchises network or
to their representatives.
3- It has to publish a deontological code that
its members have to respect and which is not in contradiction to other
deontological codes created by the IFA or by the European Franchising
Federation, or any equivalent code.
The Functioning: The presidency and the general secretariat are not locked. The general secretariat is undertaken until March 2007 by the European Franchising Federation.
Its next meeting will be held at the Franchising Exhibition of Paris the 13 March 2009.
