Running a museum as a franchise concept
"Ripley’s Believe It or Not!" is the name of an unusual franchise idea from the USA. These museums are odditoriums which can now be found at over 60 locations in eleven countries around the world including Canada, Denmark, Great Britain and Mexico.
These collections of oddities are called after the anthropologist Robert Ripley. An article in the Swiss newspaper, "20 Minuten", reports that the first museum opened up in the USA in 1950. Since then, the company has developed into the largest chain of museums across the world. The museums contain oddities such as Elvis figures made of chewing gum to stamps smelling of pigs.
