Barrique: fundraising campaign to celebrate 30 years of business
Barrique, delicatessen specialists, are marking 30 years of business by launching a fundraising campaign and running a series of special offers: for 30 days, Barrique customers can buy 30 delicatessen products 30 percent below the normal price.
“Many new customers have got to know us as a result of this campaign. And even regular customers have discovered new products,” commented franchisee, Jörn Zeisbrich from the city of Wolfenbüttel. According to the company, Barrique is also selling a special version of a Merlot wine to support an HIV/Aids project run by the children’s charity organisation, Plan International in Uganda. €1.50 is being donated for every bottle sold until the end of the year.
The company began in September 1977 when Hans-Heinrich Bendix opened up a shop in Hanover selling wine directly from casks. He was still a student at the time and set up the business together with two other students and a lecturer. Since then, the shop has developed into the family-run company and franchise system “Barrique - The famous Art of Spirit” and it is now much more than just a wine shop: customers can now purchase from a selection of spirits, liqueurs, vinegars and oils as well as from a range of delicatessen products.
There are currently 30 Barrique shops and the business is also active as a wholesaler. According to Barrique, a new franchise outlet started business in Cologne at the beginning of September. The network can also be found in the Netherlands, UK and Austria. Barrique is interested in finding suitable master franchisees across the world in order to be able to launch its concept onto further markets.
